Practice Areas
M. Robinson & Company offers
Tax Dispute Resolution in all areas of taxation: state and federal; individual and corporate. We defend clients at each of the four levels of representation:
Our attorneys concentrate on serving businesses and individuals with federal and Massachusetts tax disputes. If you do business or work out of state or abroad, you can still owe tax to the state of Massachusetts.
Examples of successful penalty reductions include:
- $85,000 Saved on Failure to File Estate Tax Return
- $50,000 Saved on Failure to Deposit Payroll Taxes
- $25,000 Saved on Failure to File Form 5500
- $1,500 Saved on Failure to File Form 990
Some examples of our successes on behalf of non-filers include:- 20% Negligence Penalty Negotiated. Tax Fraud Indictment Avoided - The Internal Revenue Service considered indicting a businessman for tax fraud. Our attorneys demonstrated that the tax return errors were caused by the negligence of the client’s accountant, then deceased. IRS countered with a substantial civil fraud penalty. IRS ultimately settled for a 5 percent negligence penalty.
- $50,000 Reduction in Trustee Tax Penalties negotiated- A business failed to pay significant withheld income taxes from the salaries of its workers over a sustained period of time. Our attorneys negotiated a $50,000 reduction in penalties.
- $60,000 in Massachusetts Estate Tax Penalties waived– The Massachusetts Estate Tax Bureau waived about $60,000 in penalties and interest on a late-filed Massachusetts estate tax return for one of our clients.
